OPSEU Solidarity: OPSEU through its Social Justice Fund is a proud supporter of the work of Horizons of Friendship with partner groups in Central America. This is the fifth year that OPSEU will be participating in an educational tour in Central America. Horizons of Friendship is a community-based international development organization based in rural Southern Ontario with a staff team of seven people. Since 1973 Horizons has raised over $74 million to support more than 100 organizations in Mesoamerica that have implemented 1,150 projects to combat poverty and injustice.

Chiapas is the southernmost State of Mexico, and is bordered by the states of Tabasco to the north, Veracruz to the northwest and Oaxaca to the west. To the east Chiapas borders Guatemala, and to the south the Pacific Ocean. Chiapas has one of the largest indigenous populations in Mexico with twelve federally recognized ethnicities. (Wikipedia)
